She's now on the Ro-Ro berth at Stornoway with Isle of Arran on passage back to Ullapool. Could tell late last night she was going to stay away from the coast going south when she was passing close to Barra. Excellent and well presented post Angus. MALTA certainly saw plenty of the action relating to WW2 and this is just one more experience of the many witnessed by the people of Malta,so many books referring to wartime Malta with fascinating and true facts make great reading.

Remember the day very well. We were in Rotterdam on our "Maskeylia" loading for forthcoming middle east trip. The day was a total holiday which we found very impressive. He was obviously highly thought of in Holland. Enjoyed the day off, no cargo being worked!

Sad indeed for myself as I first got to know her as a youngster in Stornoway in 56/57 and then in Glasgow whilst pursuing our respective careers. A sad loss, RIP Ishbel you were an inspiration.

AIS showing Muirneag doing 1.4 knots about 1/2 mile inland at Stornoway,never seen this before,has anyone else witnessed this phenomena? in the past. Maybe someone has "borrowed" the unit and has it in the car!

That paintwork is "pure art" but that requires a very special talented eye to be aware of that. Elderslie couldn't produce these reflections, painting Blueys was difficult enough! A DC ship no problem to a lewisman, an expert with batteries before AC arrived on the island so it was a doddle.
