Re: Astute-class submarine

Thanks, Brian. I thought the pods were only temporary attachments, and not a definite way of distinguishing between the two, but if Astute has kept the pod since installation, then I will happily accept that. However, I did wonder if Artful had crept into the Clyde at some time to carry out some tri...

Astute-class submarine

I have a suspicion that the answer will be no, but does anyone have an idea of the identification of the Astute-class sub that was carrying out trials off Gourock yesterday?

And on the subject of RN subs (and US ones for that matter), does anyone know why they don't carry pennant numbers?

Hi

Unless you have uploaded the wrong image, the photograph shows a Pilatus PC-12/47, and not a Tucano.

This image shows a Tucano T1, a two-seater used in a training role by the RAF;

Aye, that's a better showing, and it will now allow people to make a decision on whether they want to attend the event! Thanks. I know of that website, and that is the main reason I asked the question. The event is just more than a week away, and the participant list stands at 10 sailing vessels and 10 kayakers! At this rate, it's hardly going to attract folk from Gourock, never mind other parts of the country.

I agree that this is a real blot on the fine environment of the Clyde, should not be permitted in low waterside locations like this, it will intrude into the view from so many places. More to follow? Get wee Alex to ban them. Because of the intrusion, I think it has destroyed what was arguably one ...
