Angus Mac Kinnon

Angus about to start 2/3 weeks of intensive treatment, as the treatment is by tablets he is able to remain at home for this period. His left hand is slightly disabled and, in true seaman fashion,he spilt a cup of coffee over his laptop so he apologises for his lack of contact with all.

Not sure what is happening to the cable laying now, I am sure with todays technology they can recover the missing bit. The replacement knee recovery has slowed down and I am due in the Southern again on the 28th of this month.

Roddy lived a hundred yards from me when he was alive, was a great friend of my late father. He got more boys their first job at sea than any other person I know, better than any employment agency that ever existed.

Spoke to Angus this morning sorry to say Angus is recovering after an accident where he fell some 30ft of a ladder, bad shoulder and face injuries. Returning from Eriskay by plane on Tuesday.

Yes Angus I think it is limited work, I have not heard of any big jobs hapening there recently. The fleet at Mallaig it self is almost non existant, the boats from here mostly go to the East coast for for their annual repairs. Closed down 2 years ago but re opened recently by one of its former employees. .Barra lifeboat on the slip one day last week for a bottom scrub.

Another letter on Maple Branch headed paper. Not sure if it is a payment or Invoice or what, The Pound, shillings and pence on the back seems a lot of money for 1892.

He was a Barra man Angus, either a Donald or a Calum (father & son) Mac Auley not sure yet which one. Father and grandfather of Mor Bhan Mac Auley (Gruagach Og an Fhuilt Bhan).

Paul you said earlier that the Maple Branch was mentioned in Larns, do you know which volume it was.

Weather for sailing good for the next few days, little or no wind, temp 9-10 degree's but getting to Oban may take a bit longer than normal, you would be driving in the daytime mostly so I think you would make it OK.
