it was because of those sponsons that they built the Director class of paddle tugs in the late 1950's as the low profile and paddle boxes kept them clear of obstructions

rosyth dockyard puffers

while browsing a list of ships drydocked in Rosyth i came accross these two 1( COLLECT (puffer) drydocked 21/12/1920 --undocked 12/01/1921 and 2) NORMAN (puffer) drydocked 12/01/1940 and undocked 16/01/1940 but i can't see any mention in the PUFFERS & VIC site any idea if they where puffers Alex
