MV CLANSMAN still in drydock………

She’s been in Garvel since 22nd March, apparently due to parts of her propulsion system having to be sent to Denmark for specialist repair.

Because of this, Calmac has had to make fairly significant changes to timetables at several locations, in order to maintain and prioritise essential services.

Looks like CHIEFTAIN was in Rothesay Dock at the same time as ISLAND PRINCESS…….she’s currently heading downriver, having departed 1100hrs BST.

As Paul rightly points out above, CHIEFTAIN will take over the Kilgreggan/Gourock run – maybe they were having a wee hand-over party…………

Finally worked out where she went – would seem she spent the last few days at Rothesay Dock from where she departed this morning at 0800hrs BST and headed back to JWD, arriving around 1045hrs BST.

Just leaves the question – why?

Tugs AYTON CROSS and ANGLEGARTH met her off Gourock around 1030hrs BST, currently approaching Dumbarton.

To see her, ETA Erskine Bridge around 1200hrs BST, Renfrew Ferry about 30 minutes later.

Looks like POMORZE is about to leave us – destination now set to Ust-Luga in Russia (in the Gulf of Finland, between Estonia and Finland) ETA 2100hrs 4th April. Three tugs, ANGLEGARTH, AYTON CROSS and SVITZER MILFORD currently heading upriver, no doubt to assist. Next high tide in Glasgow is 0106hrs...

Managed to get to Renfrew in time to see her - quite satisfying, having tracked her since 9th March when she was anchored in Gibraltar.

So – another day, POMORZE stays anchored at the Tail o’ The Bank.

Tugs CMS WARRIOR, BRUISER and BATTLER are currently up at KGV Dock, presumably there to assist CEMVALE begin her passage to Belfast, ETA 0700hrs tomorrow.

Perhaps Thursday will be POMORZE’s day……….

Yes Willie, great day for the camera – I was planning to get to Renfrew to see her, but it wasn’t to be today.

However, tomorrow looks to be another good sunny day – high tide in Glasgow is 1446hrs (not mentioning the one at 0225hrs – they wouldn’t, would they?) so I’m looking forward to that.

ASTORIA – I think she is the first of this year’s cruise ships, arrived at GOT 1000hrs this morning – 160.07m x 21m dwt 2153t and carrying 550 passengers, in from Invergordon, now departed 2036hrs, due in Belfast 0800hrs tomorrow.

Been swotting up on tides – next high tide at Glasgow is 0114hrs Sunday 18th March, next is 1331hrs same day.

So would seem the intention is to get to Shieldhall at/around 1330hrs.....

Good point John – I had forgotten about the tides and given that POMORZE has a 9.3m draft, sea levels will play a part in her passage.

Currently about 23 miles south of the Belfast-Cairnryan line, estimated ETA Great Cumbrae 0200hrs Saturday.

POMORZE – now 35 miles east of Dublin making 11.7knots, still showing ETA 1000hrs 14th March……

Assuming no hold-ups for tug assistance if required etc I reckon ETA Shieldhall 0500–0600hrs tomorrow.

POMORZE currently 60 miles off the north-west tip of Portugal, about to cross the Bay of Biscay.

Present speed is showing as 11.7 knots, so content with forecasted ETA “early hours of Saturday 17th March”.

I think POMORZE arrived at the Gibraltar West Anchorage at 1.15 today – has only just left (within the last hour). Done some quick calcs, think this may have been a scheduled stop – approx. 1400 nautical miles to Glasgow, so needs to average 16 knots (non-stop) to meet ETA Glasgow 1000hrs 14th March...

Another “Biggie” for us….

Bulk Carrier SEA EAGLE – 223.7m x 32.2m - came up the river today, assisted by tugs ANGLEGARTH and SVITZER MILFORD.

Inbound from Belfast carrying animal feed, tied up at Shieldhall at 1728hrs tonight.

Hopefully, will watch for her departure to get some pics.

According to reports in the Paisley Gazette today, this bridge might never happen. Renfrewshire Council are meeting to decide whether the Clyde Bridge goes ahead, or as an alternative, to build two bridges over the White Cart in Paisley.
