Waverley website now advising Sunday’s sailing is cancelled. They are advertising that tickets are still available for Tuesday from Gravesend. Met Office shipping forecast issued at 10:30 this morning doesn't look too bad, viz:
Wind West or southwest 4 or 5, Sea state Slight or moderate. Weather Fair. Visibility Good. Not the best for a trip, but looks like Waverley is erring very much on the side of caution.

She’s now abeam Dunoon having left CHQ at 17:00. She’ll need to keep up a good average speed to get to Liverpool in time for tomorrow’s cruise (which I believe is a sell-out). Website showing tomorrows sailing cancelled. Not good with normally lucrative Liverpool and Llandudno sailings next week ahead of the Bristol Channel.

Somehow I just can't see the words "Waverley" and "free bar" sitting comfortably side-by-side !! :twisted: Hope they get them back ashore safe and sound soon though. PS no sign of any tugs heading in her direction so have to assume the crew expect too be able to complete the fix themselves in reason...

Doesn't look good Paul. I;d been assuming she disembarked all her passengers at Helensburgh when the website said as far as Helensburgh only. Those still on board must be getting a bit hacked off - unless they've opened a free bar to keep them happy !! .

The Waverley website tells us that she's only doing Glasgow/Greenock/Helensburgh, with no calls at Dunoon, Rothesay or Tin O' Beans due to "technical reasons". The auld girl has been tied up at Brodick since 14:00 today and her track on Marine Traffic shows her having headed direct there from Largs. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Nice shots williemac. I’ve cruised on her sister Boudicca and in my book they look like cruise liners are meant to - not like the modern trend of bland featureless hotel blocks welded on top of a barge.

Oriana doesn’t have azipods and so not as manoeuvrable as newer cruise ships. I’ve been on her big sister Aurora a few times and she too has needed tug assistance.

There's an AIS "blind spot" in the south of Cardigan Bay Allan - vessels close inshore disappear just SW of Fishguard (where Waverley's last position is shown) but reappear further north. She's maybe in the blind spot if she's hugging the coastline.

Hope I'm wrong, but on 015º she looks to be on course for Milford Haven.

Update at 17:05 ; maybe not as there's been some "left hand down a bit" to 008º and looking like she'll pass close abeam St David's.

She's just off the Lizard right now, doing around 12 knots with an average of just about the same since leaving Weymouth last night. She entered the Garvel mid- afternoon today. With a bit of luck (and some double time for the welders) she might make it out in time to steam south to Liverpool on Monday. Fingers crossed - she needs to lose more revenue like she needs another hole in the hull !

Anyone know what happened to her today? She was alongside at Greenock for an hour and a half. The weather at Largs was absolutely awful and quite a few folks as well as the group I was with decided not to wait for her.

It's a pity that Bruce appears to have let it die; he put a lot of hard work into it over the years. The blessing is that a small dedicated group chose to create a new database of Clyde-built ships and so all credit to them for having that foresight.
