Alongside N. Pier Oban awaiting part from Glasgow, was told by a drookit would be passenger that it's nothing major, apparently she could sail but wouldn't comply with regulations.

There's still piles of anchor chain and suchlikes to be seen at low tide, I was stationed at the Sanda light when it was automated and demanned, environmental issues forbade us to throw any bits of metal into the sea despite their being tons of the stuff already immediately below the light. I was given hundreds of these photos by Maritime HQ Pitreavie in return for me reporting passing Soviet & Eastern Bloc ship movements, Also Greenways Soviet ships and Comecon publications, wish now that I had kept all these photos.:(

Used to fish in that area too Andrew, some nice wee cod to be caught, Did you know 'Mac' Macqueen that had the boat 'Stormdrift' in Portpatrick. He used to live in the wee cottage on the shore below the light.

I've been looking for a photo of her predecessor which was wrecked on Copinsay, Orkney.

Ah Angus, I'm just back from a week in Ayrshire, self catering in Maybole, not through choice but convenient for commuting between Dalry and the Stranraer/Portpatrick area, in an ideal world I'd still be living down the SW, everyone to their own but I prefer the soft rolling agricultural countryside...

I've done it before but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it, it seems a wee bit over complicated.
I've done the usual FAQ bit but all that seems to do is open up another set of complications.
