New CMRT website and database

Post by yorkieman » Sat Dec 07, 2013 3:18 pm

The Clyde Maritime Research Trust is pleased to announce the establishment of its website at

www.clydeships.co.uk/

The Trust has been formed in order to provide a permanent home for the research and recording of all aspects of maritime history in and around the Clyde.
Fuller details can be found on the website.
Our first priority has been to establish a new database of Clyde shipbuilding, all known vessels are entered and the editing and expansion of basic details has now progressed to the point where it can be publicly launched. Our editing team continues its work day by day.
If you can help us in editing, the supply of photographs or have any questions about the project, please use this sub-forum of Clyde Maritime.
The website contains a link for enquiries about specific vessels which have not yet been edited.

Well done guys –

As the intention for my retirement (pending) is to study “The Clyde”, having memories of sailing down the Clyde in the 1960’s plus many years of summers at Rothesay, I totally applaud this project.

Well done on achieving a successful launch. Hopefully the database can now progress on a secure long-term footing.

Very well done chaps!
I wouldn't be able to contribute much to the database, but I'd be more than willing to take on the task of updating all the BP tanker entries within and supplying photos of the same from my own collection.
Regards,

Jim

Jim, very kind of you to offer re BP, I think most of them have been edited already, have a look through and if you see any omissions let us know.
Photos of course always welcome if lacking from entries, or additionals.

This is a welcome step forward - I am honoured to have been invited to participate as I have photos (at least) that can be added to enhance the already concise information.

 To all concerned. Finally Clydebuilt history is in safe hands....

Here's an old notice board from the Pointhouse ferry that might be of interest.
