24-11-2014 : Leaves Troon after 4 months : L & M CONSTRUCTOR

Post by Angus Mac Kinnon » Mon Nov 24, 2014 1:26 pm

Some four months after her arrival at Troon under tow by the tug VOE CHIEF, the large barge L & M Constructor finally departed Troon at 08:30 hours this morning, 24th November 2014, under tow of the tugs GREEN CHIEF (previously VOE CHIEF) and the multicat-workboat-cum-tug CHALLENGER OF LEITH on a Northerly course.

At last check on their progress, the tugs appear to have stopped off Portencross (near Seamill)

The images are not particularly great (using zoom feature). The large vessel in background, which has been anchored for the last few days, is the 2007-built Marshall Islands registered Products Tanker GENMAR GEORGE T, IMO 9336971, (GRT 79,235 / DWT 149,847 tonnes) in from Saldanha in South Africa, bound for Finnart Oil Terminal.

Must be linked to work with the Interconnector cable / Convertor station that's getting built at Hunterston. The cable's coming ashore in Ardneil Bay.

Yes - that will be it, she remains on station up there, along with her tug Green Chief, and that is the very class of work for which she is specialised - thanks!

Plenty space for her here .... I'm sure the ABP will be missing the revenue!

16:30 hours - Sunday 30-11-2014

Tugs GREEN CHIEF and CHALLENGER OF LEITH both appear to be heading back South for Troon with L & M CONSTRUCTOR in tow.
