British-built vessel arrives at Ayr today !

Post by Angus Mac Kinnon » Sun Apr 27, 2014 11:46 am

Not often we see a British-built vessel arriving at either Ayr or Troon nowadays, but this morning we had the pleasure of seeing the motorship SEA KESTREL, arriving from Antwerp. She is a small coasting vessel that was built by the Yorkshire DD Company of Kingston upon Hull, 21 years ago this month. (For details of vessel and images refer to sub-forum 'Shipping of Ayr & Troon') She is a smart-look wee job too and does not show her age. Cargo presumed to be grain, going by the berth she went alongside.

Angus, all who come from Hull are smart-looking and do not show their age, it's our beautiful scenery and wonderful climate wot does it (the rain may never fall till after sunset etc)

Aye - it's Spec Savers for you, m'lad, if that's your perception !

Brian Climie advises she is in with fertiliser, not grain as I had postulated.

Nice wee coaster - presume the Yorkshire DD Coy must have recruited from the Clyde to build that one ? ;)
