The Lombardia that lay at Napoli was heavily damaged there on 4 April 1943, 13 May 1943 and 4 August 1943 in Allied air bombardments and burnt out; the half-sunken wreck was confiscated by the Germans at the transfer of Italy on 9 September 1943 and was used by them at the end of September 1943 to block the port of Napoli. In May 1947 the wreck was lifted, towed to La Spezia (where she arrived on 1 June 1947) and demolished there. (source Marishdata)
