If that is the Duke of Wellington, her story is intriguing, and with the details i have, she is typical of many ships ordered, in her case originally as the Windsor Castle, with construction ceasing whilst the design is recast to accomodate the new technologies then being introduced and moving at a rapid pace in the mid 19th Century. But not rapid enough.
Despite her apparent grandeur, her ultimate career did not involve doing very much, in fact scarcely going to sea at all.
But then, we were not involved in too many naval actions at this period of time, and even then she would not have stood up to the next generation of battleships and the massive changes to guns and gunnery and tactics.
