Launched for British India as the KARANJA by Stephen's, Port Glasgow on the 10th March 1948.

10,294 Gross. Parsons Steam Turbines, 9,700 Shp, Twin Screw 16 kts.
As built 60 1st Class, 180 2nd Class, 800 3rd Class.

Completed October 1948 and placed on the Bombay to Durban Service.
June 9th 1976; Laid up Bombay.

Bought by the Shipping Corporation of India. Broken up in Bombay 1988.
