Fred Olsen's Balmoral

What a hash Olsen have made of Balmoral: after buying her they've only partly refurbished her internally after giving her a stretch and the joins are all too clear to see with no real continuity linking the original and the new. They didn't add any more lifts, she still has only the original four, and she retains her original engines and now struggles, and vibrates like hell, to reach 18 knots. I though that Olsen might make a real effort to go for the P&O cruises "smaller ship" market after Victoria was sold but alas they have a lot of work to do to come anywhere near P&O's quality levels in every department, despite their fares being on a par with P&O

He certainly made a better job of Boudicca. New engines, comprehensive refit - only problem we found was the single story Neptune lounge making it difficult to view stage. You need to look closely to see how old she is but the acres of teak make up for her age!
