Isn't it heartening to see a proper train with proper coaches instead of some jumped up suburban unit masquerading as a long distance train. As a railwayman who saw loco hauled trains at every turn it really gets to me to see how much things have deteriorated.
I see the advert is still there!! 47826 is an old friend of mine. As 47274 she was a Haymarket loco and then as 47637 SPRINGBURN I got to play trains with her as an Eastfield loco.

47826 when 47637 newly named SPRINGBURN in June 1987 on the 1715 Queen Street to Edinburgh. Wonder who arranged that......

Knew I had this: 47826 was also formerly 47274 and was involved in the serious accident at Eastriggs in March 1976 when, working the overnight Euston to Stranraer collided with a lorry which had fallen 20 feet onto the line after being driven through a bridge parapet. The train and lorry drivers were both killed and the second man of the train was injured.
