This was the view from on board last Friday night

There are still two weekends to go and you can get some good hotel deals - especially on a Friday!

Some more pictures of Waverley on the Thames on 5th / 6th Oct - I had planned to sail to Whitstable on her on the latter date but was feeling ill so returned to my hotel after watching her leave from London - so no pictures from sailing down the Thames I'm afraid

First three pictures were taken as I awaited her arrivel back in London on a 'showboat cruise from the new pier at Gravesend. It was a foul night, unfortunately some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen in London.

A lovely day for a sail from London to Southend on Sea and Whitstable - not for me , feeling unwell I watched Waverley's departure then headed back to bed in my hotel.

Waverley berthed at Tower pier with HMS Belfast and the new Shard Building, second tallest building in Europe, in the background. The Shard is build in close proximity to London Bridge Railway Station and Guy's Hospital.

Waverley at Tower Pier with City Cruises' new cruiser Millennium Diamond lying off. Not the 'cats' best angle I guess (if there is such a thing) I belive the facilities inside are very impressive. She was delivered from a shipyard in Croatia just before the start of the London Olympics. City Cruises have been operating river cruises in London for over 70 years

Tower Pier is a busy place which is the reason that Waverley cannot use it as a base when on the Thames. Thee lay-up buoys and berths once used by the Belle Steamers, London's fondly remembered fleet of excursion paddlers, many of which were built by Denny's in Dumbarton, are long gone

On the Thames - a couple of pictures by our friend Geoff Vicary of London showing Waverley at the new paassenger pier at Gravesend on the Thames. In the background is the RWE-npower owned Tilbury Power Station, where the coal-fired steam plant, originally built by John Brown Land Boilers under licence from Foster Wheeler, will be converted to biomass-firing by Doosan Power Systems next year.
