Yeoman Bank

Post by algil » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:49 pm

Does anyone know what is happening with the bulk carrier Yeoman Bank?
On Sunday/Monday she was headed for Glensanda via the North Channel when she turned to port north of Rathlin, carried on for a few miles on her new course and then turned 180deg to head due east. She then slowed down and dropped the hook about 2 miles off Machrihannish. She has lain at anchor there until today when she headed west round the mull and into the Clyde showing Greenock on her AIS. She seems to be entering Great Harbour as I write this. Engine problems perhaps?

I heard that the bow thrusters are giving problems and she would be unable to dock at Glensanda without them and there are no tugs available to help. At Greenock for repairs.

Typical sensationalist reporting from Forargyll yet again.

Thanks for the answers, makes sense now.
Sorry for the delay in replying, but we were away on a 5 day visit to London. We visited to the Maritime Museum one day and went aboard the Cutty Sark. What a wonderful job they have done with this old lass from Dumbarton. Well worth a visit if you are down there!

I've uploaded a general video - http://vimeo.com/63501343 - and Yeoman Bank features in the latter part if anyone wishes to view.

Excellent video Dougie - watched this at work at lunchtime without sound - felt totally relaxed and de-stressed as a result. Will be back for more.
