Inverkip Nearly Gone

Post by SCameron » Mon Jul 08, 2013 8:11 am

Yesterday was the first time that I'd passed close by the former Inverkip Power Station site since last September. Work on demolishing the 1970s power plant has been progressing apace as can be seen from these 2 pictures. Only small part of the boilerhouse building and the massive chimney are left. The chimney s scheduled to come down at 10pm on Sunday 28th July - so any photos / video will be nearly dark

Jetty still there but unusable - guess it will disappear soon and the high voltage transmission line took the output from Inverkip into the Grid too? Sometimes the transmission infrastructure is left in place to serve any future new power plant but ScottishPower have already sold off the land for housing and, therefore, the line will be permanently redundant
