I attended an excellent talk by Ian Johnston in Edinburgh this afternoon about John Brown's yard during the 1914-18 war. Brown's actually employed a yard photographer on a permanent basis and the slides Ian showed were amazing.

Did you buy the book which was to be available at that Edinburgh presentation?
Could be a good Christmas present from anyone to me. Don't rush, I only want one

My wife is there in a red jacket who accompanied me for the talk. With hearing difficulties, neither of us could fully enjoy all that the prof said. However, I got enough to make it worthwhile. Rosemary on the right introduced the speaker. Been a great start to the series of the talks and Ian Johnston will complete that. Hopefully there will be a second series.
btw; Riverman, please say hello next time if we can connect.

Can you tell me who organises these talks, and if they are open to non-members. Also location and time please.

Talks have been organised by Fairfield Heritage. To book a place phone 0141 445 5866
The Fairfield Museum is in what was the Fairfield office in Govan and usually open for an hour before the talks start at 7.00pm. I can promise you, that won't give you enough time to take it all in so you will have to come again. Hope to see you soon Iain.
