Looks familiar! Apart from calling at Greenock last year, she is the former Artemis of P&O Cruises and before that, Royal Princess of Princess Cruises. She has been at Greenock in their livery as well.

What a beautiful morning to greet Oriana today!I was surprised to see she required the assistance of Ayton Cross and Svitzer Milford to cant and berth, the last one Ican remember needing that was the Black Prince! No matter, the main thing is she made it.Cheers Williemac

Oriana doesn’t have azipods and so not as manoeuvrable as newer cruise ships. I’ve been on her big sister Aurora a few times and she too has needed tug assistance.

Nice shots Paul,I meant to get her arriving however I think she was trying to outrun the weather and came in about 4 a.m.! I did manage to get Nautica though, she came in while it was still dry, though a wee bit misty.

Amadea(BHS-91-29008) Pax604 strictly speaking not passing through Greenock, unless it came down the M8.Never the less I thought it merited a mention as it headed for the Holy Loch. The morning started off wet then cleared, leaving an attractive misty atmosphere with low cloud.Cheers Williemac

Today's genuine contender for passing through Greenock was Azamara Journey, originally R6 of the defunct Renaissance fleet.Thankfully she appeared bang on schedule and apart from a brief drizzle the weather held.

Nice shots williemac. I’ve cruised on her sister Boudicca and in my book they look like cruise liners are meant to - not like the modern trend of bland featureless hotel blocks welded on top of a barge.

The classic old cruise ship Ocean Majesty made her way in today, sadly the weather was diabolical, rain and low cloud making for a dreich outlook for the punters. However, for us onlookers it was brightened up by her meeting Waverley and Tidespring on her way in.Cheers Williemac

Have heard them talking about late passengers before on my radio scanner, Arthur. The pilot asked Estuary Control if it was possible for the passengers to be put onboard via the pilot boat, and the answer was a straightforward "NO". 'Ealf an safety, mate!

Many years ago, 1975 to be precise, a stowaway was found on my ship after we had loaded in Tampa. The stowaway was a black US female and my next port was Durban, South Africa! By phone I got the Tampa agents to get the authorities in Fort Lauderdale, where I would pass the next morning, to arrange for the immigration people to come out to the Fairway Buoy in the pilot boat, meet me there, and take the stowaway back ashore. Whilst this was expensive, it was not going to be nearly as much hassle as it would have been in Durban in the haydays of Appartheid!
