HIBERNIA

Post by Henk » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:03 pm

This afternoon Hibernia left Hoek van Holland with a double tow. After she was at sea, there came a call for help. The lifeboat went out and is back in Hoek van Holland at the time. Two Kooren tugs went to the Hibernia, but coming back to the entrance. Hibernia is sailing in circles north of Hoek van Holland with a Police boat in her neighbourhood.

Just got an E-mail from Ruud Zegwaard. There was a fire on board HIBERNIA and some persons got a symptom of poisining. Lifeboat JEANINE PARQUI brought some ambulance personel on board HIBERNIA to look over those persons.
This is the very few news. HIBERNIA is at anchor with some ships alongside. The lifeboat just left Hoek van Holland and is sailing out.

Thanks for the reports, Henk. Hope the engineer will be OK.

HIBERNIA remains at anchorage. Looks as if SD SEAHORSE brought the tow into the Maasvlakte this evening, and with help in from SMIT HUDSON. RPA 16 in attendance.

Incidentally. the convoy from Breskens for Bergen aan Zee has just passed HIBERNIA - ITC MELTEMI, MARINECO TOOMAI, MULTRASALVOR and Belgian diving launch AQUATROT.

Tug WEST arrived alongside HIBERNIA early this morning from Ijmuiden.

(later) 0930UTC WEST now heading away at 6kn westward. With part of original tow? HIBERNIA seems to have remained stationary.

BLUE WHALE seems then to have gone out from Vlaardingen, then returned before setting off south. She has just rendezvoused with COASTAL BOXER and YOGI which had set off from Breskens for Scheveningen at 0430 this morning (via a few hours doing something off Cadzand).

WEST has dropped off the radar for the moment.

Correct David, all those ships have taken up all dredging material that was used for uphighing the dunes, dikes and beaches between Cadzand and Breskens bringing all those material to the Noord- and Zuid Holland coast for doing the same thing over there. It is a part of the Dutch Coastal Defense.

HIBERNIA is still at anchor same place and all alone. Making up for another night by her own? Cleaning up her engine room maybe? Looking for what can be done? Sailing home alone maybe?
Last time I saw WEST she was bound for Cardiff so I suppose she has taken HIBERNIA's tow.

At the moment (22:10) I saw HIBERNIA 7 miles west of Hoek van Holland with a speed of 6,9 miles (one engine) heading west and destination Chatham! So, with this speed, tomorrow you can go ashore with your camera!
Don't forget to send me one! Not a camera! I mean a picture.
