Incident involving MV Hebrides

A very traumatic incident for the crew. I remember a similar incident when on Clansman a few years ago. The professionalism of the crew was exemplary, I have every confidence that Hebrides' crew responded in like fashion.

My thoughts are with all those involved and with the relatives of the deceased.

Calmac's (and their predecessors) safety record in this respect over some 160 years of operation is almost unbelievable, given the inherent risks involved. This incident will be only the second fatality recorded in all those years, and drink was involved in the first.
