EAST INDIA HARBOUR ( SMALL BOATS )

Post by gerrydee » Fri Feb 25, 2011 9:37 pm

Yesterday this ship SYLVESTER arrived at East India Harbour to install 20 moorings for local boat owners, at last the
harbour is being put to the benefit of small boat owners, they will also have a pontoon for ease of access to the moorings

Hi Gerry

Nice pics. Keep an eye out for my boat arriving in the harbour.............sometime in the near future hopefully !! :)

Tugster, if I remember correctly the mooring itself curves in at the end at the corner of the harbour. The biggest boats are at the end closest to the entrance and smallest all the way in. Im going to tell the captain of sylvester your slagging him :D

Thanks JAMIE and TUGSTER ECOSSE
Yes its great to see the Harbour being put to good use and hope that 20 moorings is just the start .And JAMIE I look forward to seeing your boat and being able to picture the coming and goings around the Harbour area on a daily basis.
JAMIE I hope your boat is nearing launch time soon you need her in the water to pay you back for all the work you have put into her, but as you well know small boats and salt water means the job is never done ,
I wish you all the best with her ,good luck .

Nice spot, we was only by the old custom house on Sunday morning and JWD and I commented a marina was needed. mind you, we'd need pontoon moorings for our 45' cruiser please. 8-)

Hi Gerry, great pics.

The boats are slowly but surely making their way to the harbour as they go back in from various boatyards and marinas. Yesterday the pontoons were anchored in the centre of the moorings and hopefully a gangway will be arriving soon to give easy access to the owner's dinghys.

What happens to these boats that have been moored there before the mooring was put down ,when the mooring is full will they come under the control of the mooring committee or does that mean anyone can come and put a mooring down in any free space in EIH and moor their boat

I posted these picture after the pontoon 1,2,3, pictures and they seemed to be alright then later when I looked they were gone. The pontoon seem quite far out from the wall when the tide is out it will take a big Gangway to go from the top of the wall to the pontoon?

Hi Gerry again great pics sorry I haven't replied before now not been on much I have been very busy working on St Just!
I don't know what will happen to the other boats, I think one or two of them may be moving onto the big mooring but I'm not sure. The boat club was set up by the members and working with the council to get permission and I don't think the other boats have permission to be there.
Hopefully we should see a gangway arriving soon!

Jamie :)

Hi, Gerry, great sets of images you've been capturing there.

The spelling is correct, but not the order, Clach Trom is how it should read (Heavy Stone) rather than Trom Clach.

Wishing you and Ann a great USA experience once more, take care and stay well !

CHANGES AT EIH MOORING

Post by gerrydee » Fri Aug 12, 2011 10:58 am

There has been quite a change since I last posted on the moorings in MAY the Pontoon is now fixed in place they now have an excellent Gangway with a lockable gate at the top and this week they fitted kickboards down each side of the Gangway, the next job is to give it all a nice coat of paint that will keep the rust at bay on where they had to weld it together.

The Ducks
the Ducks sometimes rest on the wall inside the fence and look like easy pickings if that was the case and the Fox fell in the water there would be no way out and it would drown. The picture shows it straddling SANDPIPERS mooring chain and it will stay there till the tide comes up and lets it free
