Looks like BARBARA or something similar on her stern, can't find anything obvious via the Miramar site.

The colours are those of Kappa Maritime Ltd, London (Pantelis “Lou” Kollakis).

She is BARBAMIHALIS ex-CITY OF BRUSSELS of Brussels Steamship Co, London, sold to Barbamihalis Corp, Panama in 1964
Built by John Lewis, aberdeen in 1947.

Outward on the Clyde (no date, but may be same call) at http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/s ... ls/cat/517

Fantastic....Ive had that slide for nearly fifty years and never had a name on it and tonight after fifty plus minutes the Mystery Ship has a name. Remember at the time dockers telling me "get a photo of that one,son ..shes very old"Now its me thats old but fair delighted. Thanks again. Colin

Well spotted David, of course she was not 'very old' at all, only 16 years when Colin saw her, but built as a replacment for a 1925 vessel of the same name which was a war loss, and seems like they used the same plans!
They ran London-Brussels and think must have had hinged funnels, hence also perhaps the need for the unusual low bridge, in order to get up the canals.
I actually saw this one in the old London Docks in August 1961, my first visit to London.
Has a sister CITY OF LONDON which was built 1927 and did survive to run alongside this newer vessel.
Owner was Brussels SS Co Ltd.

Not sure about the funnel hinging down but definately the extension to her mainmast, the hinge being roughly level with funnel top.

Built at Aberdeen in 1947 by John Lewis. In 1964 she became BARBAMIHALIS and was a visitor to Queens Dock As CAPITAO BISMARCK but given the name AVEIRO which was never applied she was broken up at Santander arriving on December 17th 1971 just short of 25 years from her launch.
