A couple of well known faces so to speak at the Hamilton Service Area on the M74 in our recent spell of good weather.

Are McPhersons of Aberlour still going? I worked in Pitlochry during the mid 1970s before the new A9 was built.
Their tankers were a common sight going through the town. I think they were taking bulk whisky from Speyside down to bottling plants in the Central Belt.

Still going and stronger than ever, they now have the Chivas contract, you can see them crossing the Erskine Bridge every couple of minutes, maroon coloured units with either a Chivas Regal box van or tank on the back. :D

My late mother who came from Aberlour knew them in the pioneer days.

OUTSIDE ABERLOUR.jpg
A95 just passed Cromdale.
When McPherson got the Chivas contract he aquired new vehicles and they were painted in Chivas colours and logo.
The orange plate at the front and back denotes I am under ADR regs. (The carriage of dangerous goods by road) in this case Class 3 (Highly Flammable Liquids.)
To obtain an ADR certificate (which must be carried by the driver at all times in order to show VOSA, Police etc.) a driver must undergo one weeks training at an approved training centre with an examination at the end.
This course and examination must be taken every five years.
