Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame ´2013 Inductees

Post by SCameron » Sun Oct 06, 2013 4:28 pm

Four new inductees to the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame were announced at the 104th Janes Watt Dinner in Glasgow on 4th October 2013. They were:

William John MacQuorn Rankine, the world renowned Professor of Civil Engineering & Mechanics at Glasgow University in the mid 19th Century,

Sir William Arrol, the lad from humble beginnings in Houston, Renfrewshire who became one of the world's most renowned bridge and crane builders

Sir Robert Watson-Watt, I think a descendant of James Watt and the inventor of radar.

Mr Hugh Gill, the second living inductee to the Hall of Fame whose many engineering accomplishments have ranged from an involvement in the design of Howden's Channel Tunnel boring machines to his amazing recent and ongoing work on the development of prosthetic limbs by the pioneering firm 'Touch Bionics#

sorry I don'T HAVE TIME TO GIVE MORE DETAILS AT THIS TIME BUT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO PICK UP THOSE FROM THE WEBSITE
