New tug for the Clyde

Post by Bill Harvey » Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:09 pm

During a trawl of Chinese shipyards on Sea Web database, I spotted that Damen Shipyards at Changde, are constructing an ASD2310 type for Clyde Marine Services.

Yard No. 512916 - Keel was laid as far back as 26/3/2013 (presumably a stock hull)
the name CMS WARRIOR is shown with IMO No. 9765184 for delivery June 2015.

David,

A regular feature of Damen's operations is the transportation of their Chinese and Vietnamese built tugs on heavy lift vessels to Europe where they are made ready at Gorinchem, Hardinxveld or other Damen yards for delivery

I rather thought that's what would happen, Bill. But just think how many wee ports you would have to visit if you were sailing her home!

The hyperlink below is for a tug for sale on a brokerage site - it looks very like the Battler which may be sold to make room for the new tug!

CMS WARRIOR – currently showing as being deep in Rotterdam, destination “unknown”.

Anyone know when she’s expected in her new home waters?

She's safely berthed - http://www.dougie-coull-photography.com ... -FGLxjK7/A - quick shot as she arrived in Greenock.

Quite an entrance, enhanced no doubt by the weather.

Certainly spent a long time ensconced in Rotterdam.
