I am researching my family history and my searches for SS Hopewell have led me to this site! I have gathered the attached information about the SS Hopewell, which was captained by my great-great grandfather (Sam Hyne) on its voyage from the UK to Maryborough, Queensland, with his son (my great grandfather) as one of the engineering crew (3rd Engineer). The Hopewell ended its days as one of the Bulwer wrecks on North Moreton Island, near Brisbane Queensland, along with several other vessels to stabilise the sandy beaches (see images and chart extract in attachment). Cheers, Mark Bonato, Canberra, Australia
