CAPE HOWE 1962: Lithgow, Port Glasgow

Post by Deepol » Tue Jun 02, 2015 11:30 am

A regular at General Terminus she is seen here in this Clydeport Magazine cutting getting ready to depart.
On her way downriver. She was one of the ore carriers which required to cant at KG5 for length.
Outbound passing Great Harbour.
A near sister to Currie Line's GOTHLAND CAPE HOWE was launched on May 31st and completed in November for the Lyle Shipping Company later becoming part of Scottish Ship Management.
In 1978 she was sold becoming AL TAWWAB and went to Chinese breakers in 1984.

Paul, was this picture of the Cape Howe taken circa 1973? If it was I am almost sure my late Uncle was the Chief Engineer on her. If not another wild goose chase on my behalf.
