EMPRESS OF BRITAIN 1930

Post by Colin Campbell » Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:14 am

Built John Browns Clydebank for Canadian Pacific
Given this photograph by a friend who told me her brother managed to get safely out of her through a porthole when she was sunk in 1940.
Understand she was first bombed 26/10/1940 and eventually torpedoded two days later to become the largest British merchant ship lost in WW2.
Pre-war she did 8 world cruises visiting 81 ports in 23 countries. 146 days Southampton to Southampton
