Still operational running trips down the River Elbe to Cuxhaven, Kiel Canal etc. Moored at the Landungsbrücken, Hamburg.
15.12.1962 Built by Deutsche Werft A.G., Hamburg for the Hamburg-Südameriknische Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft.
Machinery: 9-cyl. 2SCSA oil engine by Masch. Augsburg-Nürnberg (M.A.N.) 11,650 hp, 20 knots.
Passengers 12, Crew 50, Employed on the Hamburg-South America service.

10.12.1981 Sold to Hansamerica S.A. (Ybarra y Cia. S.A. managers), Panama, and renamed SAN DIEGO.
1986 Sold to Multigrade Shipping Inc. (Navorient Maritime Ltd., managers), St. Vincent, and renamed SANGRIA.
Resold to Chinese shipbreakers, but then sold to the Senate of the City of Hamburg for use as a museum ship and renamed CAP SAN DIEGO.
31.10.1986 Returned to Hamburg.
1988 Transferred to Stiftung Hamburger Admiralität, Hamburg.

Last of a series of six ships known as the 'white swans of the South Atlantic'. These vessels marked the apex of German built general cargo ships before the advent of the container ship. :)

Shows what can be done with a bit of effort. Remember that was the plan for either GLENOGLE or GLENFALLOCH when the search parties went to China to find one of them and bring it back to the Thames but they had both disappeared presumed scrapped. :(
