A Greenock Shipbuilder - Query

Post by Angus Mac Kinnon » Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:44 pm

Has anyone heard of a Greenock shipbuilder Samuel McMurran Turnbull and, if so, what Yard was he associated with? He died on 19th February 1948 at the age of 63 years.

Doesn't answer the question, but seems he is a past President of the Irvine Burns Club, see 1928 on this page

"1928 Samuel M Turnbull: of Irvine, ? Councillor, prominent in shipbuilding in Greenock."

Yes - his existence is indisputable - it was the shipbuilding aspect that intrigued me as I don't recall hearing of him before now. He may not have been a Leading Shipbuilder of fame, of course, may have been a Manager for one of the Yards. Had hoped some of the Greenockians might have heard of him.
