CUTTY SARK 1869 Scott & Linton, Dumbarton
CLAN MATHESON 1919 Wm. Hamilton, Port Glasgow

Ochone, Ochone ..... no British Mariner or equivalent Greyhound of the Sea, clearly the selection panel that stand accused of the maritime omission will have to answer for this calamity when they reach the Gates (gangway?) of Britannic Hoose up there .... there will be much weeping, wailing and gnashing of tooth on that day ..... :(

'scuse me, Yorkie personage, are you by any slim chance alluding to the speed of the subject vessels being in some manner retarded, thus delaying HM's mails?

However, one has to question the choice of Cutty Sark, rather than one of the faster clippers of that particular era, such as Thermopylae, Ariel, Taeping, Serica ? The Cutty Sark was without doubt a distinguished vessel and deserving in her own way, but the Steele of Greenock creations surpassed all others :D

I did intend to defend the reputation of BP, but then I remembered
