George Nisbet & Co., Glasgow

Post by yorkieman » Fri Jul 23, 2010 4:31 pm

Nisbet appears to have owned ships between 1915 and 1961, distinguished by the 'BLAIR' name prefix and a bold funnel of red with black top separated by a white band. In 1939 they were in the same building as Clan, 109 Hope Street, but by 1950's were at 95 Bothwell Street.
Vessels were registered in the names of the Clydesdale Shipping Co., Nisbet Shipping Co. and Northern Navigation Company
Fleet list from a Miramar search - dates are year of build not necessarily year first owned, most early vessels were second-hand but they had a major building programme in 1920's.
