In 1945 rebuild at Pusnæs Mekaniske Verksted and 19-11-1945 first trip in the Rute
03-07-1947 grounded near Grinna Fyr (Folla).
26-01-1948 during survey at Trondhjems Mekaniske Verksted capseised.
Laid-up in 1965 and later sold as hotelship to Cape Haïti.
In 1982 seen as wrackage near Cap Haitien.
Last survey in 1991; further existence in doubt

There was an earlier Skjerstad, Henk so I think this one should perhaps be (II).

The picture looks to be prior to her 1945 refit as her accomodation was substantially rebuilt and her mainmast mover further aft.

She had some interesting Wartime Adventures as well. One involving a group of Teachers who refused to co-operate with the German Authorities. In all 498 were embarked in terrible conditions and although some were taken off the majority were transported to Kirkenes to work as forced labour. Fortunatly Public opinion made them back down and they were returned after six months.

Det Nordlandske indeed had an earlier SKJERSTAD, but as far as I know, she sailed the route Norway - Germany - Great Brittain (or Iceland). Not the Hurtigrute ?????
