AMBUSCADE 1975 Frigate: Yarrow, Scotstoun

Post by Deepol » Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:09 am

Named from an old word meaning to lie in wait to ambush, the first of the Type 21 frigates Clyde built was launched from Yarrow's on January 18th 1973 being commissioned in September 1975.
She had a narrow escape in 1983 following a collision with USS DALE in which AMBUSCADE lost most of her bow.
Decommissioned in 1993 she transferred to the Pakistan Navy becoming TARIQ and is possibly still in service.
