I don't think we will ever see her sail again as she is well beyond any MCA grandfather rights and would have to comply with new build regs, so the other active ships will be able to carry that flag.
Just seeing her on the river after 38 years will do.
The Friends of TS Queen Mary website isn't saying anything other than that final preparations are under way, and they hope to confirm departure date "soon".

I'm fairly sure she will go to dry dock on her arrival at Greenock. Would imagine a hull inspection will be high on the agenda but purely assumption.
There is a video clip on Facebook for those that are on there.
Slight shock-effect, having remembered her in her old Caley/Calmac colours, and obviously needing at least a quick “wash and brush-up”……..
So let’s get TS QUEEN MARY back to the land of her birth – very confident we can do the business.
Having just passed 4 miles north of Margate, and with a heading indicating her intention to head south, VENTURE and her charge are making 9.5 knots.
At around 1600hrsBST today, VENTURE and her charge will be passing approx 25 miles south of the Isle of Wight.
Winds in the area are 10-12 knots, north-easterly.
Over the last three hours or so, her speed has steadily reduced from 8 knots to a current 4.6 knots.
Lots of variables of course, plus don’t think they would want to bring her in in darkness – I’ll go with Monday.
Windspeed dropping to 8-10 knots, but now coming from the north-west.
TS Queen Mary has exceeded her planned speed for her tow to Scotland, since she departed the Thames.
Currently we expect Queen Mary to arrive on the Clyde this Sunday 15th May. Approximate ETAs:
- Cumbrae - 1230
- Greenock - 1530

TS Queen Mary is on schedule to make the Clyde this Sunday 15th May.
In response to several requests, we are looking at a charter of "Clyde Clipper" to take guests out to meet Queen Mary, as she makes her historic return home.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to be part of maritime history (and to get the best views!). The cruise will last four hours and the tentative schedule is:
Depart Greenock: 1130 am
Arrive Greenock: 1530 pm
The cruise can ONLY go ahead if we get at LEAST 100 people signed up. The cost per ticket is £25, with any profit going to the Queen Mary's upcoming dry-dock appeal.
To reserve a place all you need to do is send us your full name, the number of tickets you want reserved and a contact email or mobile.
How do you tell us this? Easy:

We need numbers confirmed ASAP and before 5pm today (Friday).
If they are going to meet the Greenock ETA of 1530hrs Sunday, seems to me they will have to average not less than 7.5 knots, and that’s presuming a straight-line course where possible, e.g. Land’s End to west of the Isle of Man, and not following the coastline should they require better weather conditions.
Appears to be taking the straight-line route – heading has been and is a few degrees either side of due north.
Seems to have made good time today – readings over the last few hours indicate better than 9 knot average.
Anyone know where she is heading?
Not clear if the intention is to continue with the restoration work, or if this is where she will over-winter.
06.06.19 - £370,000 Boost & Dry Dock for TS Queen Mary
We are delighted to announce that TS Queen Mary has received a £370,000 boost. Funding has seen several projects advanced at Glasgow Science Centre, including:
- A full strip down and re-build of the ship's onboard generator
- Completion of battening the boat deck (by the Captain's Cabin)
- Removal of the last of the 1990's windows (prom deck aft) to restore her 1933 appearance
- Instatement of a new internal bulkhead
- NDT testing of the hull (by Selman Marine).
TS Queen Mary will move later today (6th June) to Dales Marine Services (Garvel Clyde) where she will dock down for two weeks. During her dry-docking, the following work will be carried out:
- Full vessel survey and completion of laser scanning
- Completion of NDT testing of below water areas
- Removal of rudder and rudder stock for inspection
- Removal of propellor shafts for inspection
- Inspection of shaft cavities
- Blasting of superstructure (hull was blasted in 2016)
- Reinstatement of scuppers at the vessel's sheer
- Reinstatement of overshoot pipes
- Repairs to wooden belting (starboard side fwd)
- Reglazing of various small windows (main deck)
- Reinstatement of bulwark top (foredeck)
- Instatement of 2D steel lettering at bow
- Removal of redundant sewage equipment (lower deck)
- Internal blasting and coating of transverse beams and side shell (prom deck and main deck)
- Cleaning of deck heads to remove flaking coatings
- Completion of 3D modelling of the ship
- Full re-paint of hull, superstructure, large vents, funnels and wooden window frames.
Crawford Paterson (Vice Chairman) says: "As stewards of this iconic ship we need to make the best informed decisions we can for her future conservation. Brookes Bell have created a scope that will help ensure we do just that."
Iain Sim (Chairman) says: "I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to engage positively with private benefactors and corporate partners to unlock this investment.
Once the works in dry dock have been completed TS Queen Mary will have turned a corner. Her voyage today will be particularly special, as it will be the first time that she has gone "doon the watter" since August 1977."

If one compares the images of TS QUEEN MARY in the video, with the pics showing her leaving Tilbury Docks in May 2016 (13th post in this thread), you wouldn't think it was the same vessel, such is the margin of improvement in her appearance.
