PS WAVERLEY 2018

I see she got up to a healthy 13.5 knots approaching Port Glasgow - that must be a good sign, after being moored for six months at the Science Centre.
I wish her all the best for 2018.

Set off at 0930hrs BST this morning, got to about a mile west of the CAPTAYANNIS before turning downriver, currently making a healthy 14.5 knots.

Tracking her on Marine Traffic, appears to be problems with her transponder –
Departing Science Centre in the morning, no readings until she is past Erskine Bridge, so “straight line” course which shows she “jumped on-land” and went along Glasgow Road and Dumbarton Road, then went back on the river after the Erskine Bridge.
Same situation after:-
a) departing CHQ – “overland” course until past Gourock.
b) departing Largs – “0verland” course until approaching Dunoon
c) Departing Dunoon on return journey – overland course to CHQ, missing out Largs
However, main question – on her return journey, would appear she had to have a second attempt to dock at Dunoon – anyone know why?

Looks like whatever the problem is it’s still there as she disappeared off the Cock of Arran this afternoon after she left Lochranza, not to reappear until she was just north of Toward.Allan wrote:Great day for PS WAVERLEY – weather could not be better.

Looking forward to my sail on her tomorrow all the way to sunny Rothesay.

Was on "The Splash" yesterday when Waverley passed on her way downriver. When she got approximately abeam of Gourock Pier she turned hard to starboard and headed back across to Kilcreggan, where she berthed. For all the world it looked as though "somebody" had forgotten she was supposed to stop at Kilcreggan. Any ideas?? Thereafter she resumed her downriver passage.

My only other thought was possibly a medevac, but in that case why not Gourock? There is probably a quicker response time for that at Gourock than at Kilcreggan I would have thought.

I had two friends on board who got off at Largs, got the bus up to Gourock and ferry over to Kilcreggan where I picked them up.
She missed out Arran and returned keeping her on schedule.
