It's been a while since anything has been posted on this topic.A blooming shame Forth Ports nicked the contract for for animal feed.Despite that Louise Bulker came in on Saturday, not the biggest at just under 20,000 tons gross, however beggars can't be choosers.Cheers Williemac

Looks like the tugs are up at Shieldhall, NORD COPENHAGEN soon to depart for Murmansk.

Was hoping to see her leave, but not in the middle of the night...…

I happened to be doing the Christmas food shop at Braehead with my wife this morning and noticed her passing upriver at the back of Sainsbury's, so I bolted to the waterfront to watch her in the heavy rain being turned at KGV onto the riverside berth. My wife was less than amused!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me, too.

Just had a quick look on Ships AIS and see bulker Infinity K outbound from Shieldhall - just passing Renfrew at the moment.

Anybody get any pictures of her coming in or at Shieldhall ?

A case of now you see her, now you don’t…

Arrived Sunday night/Monday morning, departed Shieldhall Tuesday 1024hrs – destination Rouen France, ETA 1700hrs Thursday – current position approx. 42 nautical miles away from rounding Land’s End.

As Mr Chaucer reputedly said, “Time and Tide wait for no man”…..

I must say that I miss the large animal feed bulkers in the upper river. It was always a thrill to see them in the narrow confines of the river with the skill of the tug masters pulling and prodding them. They seemed to represent that the upper river was still a major player in the shipping business and harked back to the days of the iron ore bulk carriers discharging at G.T.Q. I still check the shipping movement section and Marine traffic, but it is always fruitless and reminds me of the Flanders and Swan song " The Slow Train " which dealt with the Beeching Cuts. My favourite viewing spots were from Bowling Basin or the Saltings under Erskine Bridge. Lets hope that they reappear sometime soon.
Best Wishes to All, Iain Nevill

I spoke too soon in my last post, but am delighted to see that a large bulk carrier, Federal Shimanto ( 190m & 19.175gt) is on her way to Shieldhall Riverside Quay with a cargo of Agriprods. ETA is 3om this Wednesday (23rd) and I will do my best to see her. but not being a photographer I would be most grateful if some kind member could post any images.
Best wishes to all. Iain Nevill

Marine Traffic indicates that a large aircraft carrier at 340m long is at present being manoeuvred into KG5 by Svitzer Milford. If correct this must by a sight to see.

Thanks for the two great pictures from your superb vantage point. Also very good to see a large vessel on her way to the upper river and Glasgow - it's been some time. I guess her cargo is animal feed.
Best wishes, Iain Nevill

I'll second (and third) that -

Our river is "not what it was".....nice to see a "sizeable" vessel inbound.
